About Dionae
The Venus Fly Trap
Probably the most iconic of the carnivorous plants. Contrary to it's name crawling bugs such as beetles make up the majority of its diet, not flies.
Trigger hairs
See the hairs on the inside of each trap? Those are the trigger hairs and must be touched multiple times within approximately 20 seconds for the trap to close. This helps prevent it from catching stuff such as leaves that fall into t
Dormancy
I grow some of my Venus fly traps indoors part of the year however, these plants need to go dormant during winter. I put mine outside in October and move them back in February or March.
Watering
Use the tray method. I always have them sitting in at least a half inch of distilled water.
