Nepenthes sex

Did you know, all tropical pitcher plants are either male or female? In cultivation, males are more common.

Types of pitchers

Most Nepenthes have two pitcher types, upper and lower. Lower pitchers tend to be larger and more elaborate.

Upper pitchers are more slender and less colorful.

Watering!

Nepenthes typically do not like very wet feet, water them from above until they sit in about a half inch of distilled water. Let the water evaporate before watering from the top again.
